I believe because men are important, men’s health is important. With the rise of feminism, men’s health and well being has often been forgotten. Men need to know who they are, what they do and why they do it. I have a global view to men’s health -the issues of spirit, soul and body, all come together to impact men’s health.
There are a lot of factors which make men more prone to illness and premature death, and far less likely to present to a doctor – or a pastor for that matter for help. The way men are socialised often leads them to think that self reliance, strength and aggression are the way to get out of trouble and survive instead of dealing with health and personal issues by asking for help.
Unfortunately men do not live as long as women and are much likely to die from accidental death and suicide. Men are also more likely to die from cancer and heart disease. Men suffer from relationship failures and those living alone have the worst health outcomes.
As a medical doctor, Christian pastor, father of two boys and a man, I am committed to help men work through the physical, psychological and spiritual issues that face them. I believe that when we discuss issues together we will see healthier, more whole and spiritually directed men come forth as the result. I am more than happy to deal with any issues and questions that may be raised.
